About Mi Clínica Mi Comunidad

Mi Clinica Mi Comunidad is a patient registry designed to connect Emerson Clinical Research Institute with participants of Hispanic/Latinx origin and other ethnicities across the United States. Participants who opt-in and sign up for Mi Clinica Mi Comunidad will receive monthly or periodic event emails from Emerson Clinical Research Foundation and healthcare newsletters. Emerson can then contact and connect with registered participants with healthcare services as well as events that may be catered toward their country of origin. In the past events have included free vaccination clinics, health fairs, and guest speakers. Additionally, Emerson will be able to identify (where appropriate) information about clinical trials which may match up with a participant’s health history.
Health access
Significant disparities in health between Hispanics and other demographic groups in the U.S. have been amply documented. A personalized approach focusing on individual variability in genetics, environment, lifestyle, and socio-economic determinants of health (SDoH) may advance understanding of some major factors contributing to the health disparities experienced by Latinx and other groups in the U.S. and lead to new strategies to improve health care. We at the Emerson Diversity Health Foundation (EDHF) incorporate this understanding into our work to advance equitable health access, understanding and outcomes for diverse racial and ethnic Hispanic populations and other diverse people.
Community projects
Working alongside Emerson clinicians and researchers, our health Outreach Specialists have educated, evaluated, screened, and/ or referred over 86,000 Greater Washington DC area community members. Trusted by most local Hispanic Consulates to develop health impact strategies and plans; and to deliver to their community members on-site (public) health information and interventions, vaccinations, health screenings, and resources and referrals, EDHF staff are trusted brokers of health. Through our community projects and strategic alliances with other healthcare delivery systems, universities, community leaders and other non-profits, EDHF further extends its reach and impact.
