Audrey Escobedo – Vicepresident

Multilingual physician and public health leader, Vice President of ECRI, dedicated to diversity and equity in healthcare access.

Dr. Escobedo-Escotto holds a medical degree with a minor in Surgery from Guatemala, along with a master’s degree in Public Health from the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University.

With over a decade of experience in clinical research, she has focused on conducting and overseeing studies in Washington, D.C.’s metro area, aiming to improve healthcare access and outcomes. Her fluency in English, French, and Spanish has helped her build trust and foster strong relationships with the communities she serves.

Since joining ECRI in 2013, Dr. Escobedo-Escotto has been committed to increasing racial diversity in clinical trials. As Vice President of the Emerson Clinical Research Institute, she ensures that studies at ECRI benefit all communities.

Driven by her passion for addressing unmet healthcare needs, Dr. Escobedo-Escotto co-founded the Emerson Community Clinic, which provides affordable care to patients regardless of their financial income. She is also a co-host of the TV show “Tu Salud Tu Familia” on Telemundo, where she earned her fourth Emmy Award for Outstanding Health and Science Special.

Dr. Escobedo-Escotto’s work has been widely recognized. She was named one of the 40 Under 40 Leaders in Minority Health by the National Minority Quality Forum, honoring her contributions to healthcare and her ongoing efforts to improve access for minority communities. In January 2024, she was honored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala for her outstanding work as a healthcare provider abroad.
